Seattle 5 Calgary 4

Justin Hickman scored twice, including the game winner to lead the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 5-4 win over the Calgary Hitmen Friday night at Scotiabank Saddledome. 

The flood gates opened early in the game with Seattle building a 2-1 lead just under four minutes into the first period on goals from Luke Lockart and Connor Sanvido sandwiched around a Hitmen goal from Danny Gayle. 

Calgary rallied to take a 3-2 lead getting goals 16 seconds apart from Alex Roach and Brady Brassart.  But Seattle would add two more, the first from Hickman and the second on a powerplay from Marcel Noebels, to close a wild first period with a 4-3 lead.

In the second period, Calgary drew even midway through when rookie Alex Gogolev buried his fifth goal of the season.  The Hitmen had other chances to score but Gogolev hit a post and Brassart was stopped on a breakaway. 

Then with timing winding down in the middle frame Hickman scored on a Calgary turnover with 12.1 seconds remaining to give Seattle a 5-4 lead they would not relinquish.

With the loss Calgary drops to 8-9-1-1.  The Hitmen will host the Lethbridge Hurricanes in a Sunday matinee at Scotiabank Saddledome.  Game time is 2:00 p.m.
