Calgary at Swift Current

The Calgary Hitmen (7-8-1-1) can see the light at the end of the tunnel on this eight day tour of the East Division.  Their longest road trip of the season ends tonight in Swift Current against the Broncos (7-9-2-0).  The Hitmen are 2-0 against the Broncos this season posting wins of 5-1 and 7-1.  Calgary is coming off Sunday's 3-2 OT loss in Moose Jaw while Swift Current was a 3-2 home ice winner over Prince Albert on Saturday night.

The team used a rare day off yesterday to hit the bowling lanes where Trevor Cheek did his best Roy Munsun impression from the movie Kingpin and bowled a team high 221.  Cheek also reminded me it was only the second time the American had ever played five pin.  Impressive!

I even put on the funky shoes and played.  But the use of the word "played" is certainly debateable.  I tore up the lanes with a 71.  An awesome score for golf, but the worst score of anyone on the day.  Even Alex Gogolev, who had never picked up a bowling ball in his life, was better.  I think I'll stick to the broadcast booth from now on.

Back to hockey where the Hitmen hit the ice in Swift Current for a morning game day skate.  I caught up with forward Jimmy Bubnick.  Listen to the interview here
