Calgary, AB - Red Deer Rebels goaltender Patrik Bartosak (Bar-TOE-Sack) made 32 saves in a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen Friday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Victor Rask with his team leading third goal and Brady Brassart with his first goal of the season scored for the Hitmen in the loss.
John Persson and Colton Mayor each posted a goal and an assist to lead the Rebels while Locke Muller and Cory Millette also scored for the visitors.
Special teams played a large role in the Red Deer win as the Rebels went 2-7 on the powerplay and killed all four Hitmen chances.
Calgary will wrap up a three game home stand on Wednesday, October 12th when they host LA Kings prospect Jordan Weal and the Regina Pats. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Post Game Thoughts
-Hitmen looked great early when they played a pressure game that involved a strong forecheck on the Rebels defence, but their work ethic tailed off as the game went on. In the post game show Head Coach Mike Williamson said "we had too many passengers tonight"
-Special teams have been a issue through the first four games. Calgary is a combined 1-16 on the powerplay while giving up six powerplay goals on 21 chances.
-Newly acquired 20-year-old defenceman Brock Sutherland did not play. Friday was his travel day to Calgary from Tri-City and he simply didn't make to the game in time.
