The Calgary Hitmen (4-5-0-1) play game two of their three game home stand tonight when they host the Portland Winterhawks (6-5-1-1) in their only meeting of the season. Game time is 7:00pm at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Hitmen are coming off Sunday's 4-2 home ice loss to the Kootenay Ice while the Winterhawks last played Saturday night dropping a 2-1 six round shootout decision in Red Deer. For Portland this is stop number three on a nine game in 17 day road trip which won't end until November 5th in Kelowna.
The Winterhawks roster boasts four players taken in the top two rounds of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft: Sven Bartschi 13th overall to Calgary, Joe Morrow 23rd overall to Pittsburgh, Ty Rattie 32nd overall to St. Louis and Tyler Wotherspoon 57th overall to Calgary.
Meanwhile 17-year-old defenceman Derrick Pouliot is projected to be a 2012 first round NHL pick this coming June.
In their lone meeting last season the Hitmen skated to a 5-1 win in Oregon on October 13th. Kris Foucault and Cody Sylvester both scored twice while Mike Snider made 31 saves.
DID YOU KNOW? Calgary's next win will be their fifth. Last season after winning their fourth game of the season on October 16th the team went on a season high 12 game losing streak and didn't record their fifth victory until November 19th.
