Calgary at Swift Current

The Calgary Hitmen (2-4-0-1) open a two game Saskatchewan road trip tonight in Swift Current against the Broncos (4-6-1-0).  It's a rematch following Sunday's 5-1 Hitmen win at Scotiabank Saddledome.  Monday was a travel day for the team but the Hitmen did hold a morning skate today.

Containing the Broncos high scoring offence will again be key for Calgary as only Victoria has scored more goals in the WHL this season than Swift Current.  What a start to the young season for the Broncos top line of Taylor Vause, Adam Lowry and Coda Gordon who have combined for 45 points through the first 11 games.  All three are from the city of Calgary.  But it should also be noted Hitmen were able to blank the top trio in Sunday's win.

Swift Current is 2-2-1-0 at home this season while the Hitmen are 0-3 on the road.  Internet Broadcast on sportsnet960.ca starts at 7pm.  Click the Husky Hitmen Hockey logo on the lower right side of the main page to listen.

Top Scorers:

Calgary
Alex Gogolev 4g 3a 7pts
Victor Rask 3g 4a 7pts
Brady Brassart 3g 3a 6pts
Brooks Macek 3g 3a 6pts

Swift Current
Taylor Vause 9g 9a 18pts
Adam Lowry 5g 9a 14pts
Coda Gordon 5g 8a 13pts

HITMEN ALUMNUS:  Kris Foucault who was originally drafted by the Swift Current Broncos in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft (5th rd) is in the American Hockey League with the Houston Aeros.  The 21-year-old who played parts of three seasons with the Hitmen (2008/09 to 2010/11) has two assists in four games with the farm team of the Minnesota Wild.

WILSON WATCH:  Hitmen grad Ben Wilson is in the American Hockey League with the Lake Erie Monsters.  The 20-year-old has played five games.  Although he has been held pointless, Wilson does have two shots on goal along with 15 penalty minutes.  One interesting note he's listed as a centre on the Monsters roster despite playing most of his time in Calgary as a defenceman.

SHOT CLOCK:  Calgary has out-shot their opponents in six of their seven games this season.
