The Calgary Hitmen (14-10-1-1) visit the Edmonton Oil Kings (16-8-1-2) tonight in their first of six meetings this season. Internet Broadcast on sportsnet960.ca starts at 7pm from Rexall Place. The Hitmen have won four straight and are coming off Saturday's 8-2 victory in Prince Albert. The Oil Kings have also won four in a row having last played on Tuesday posting a 4-1 home ice win over Spokane. Edmonton is tied with Medicine Hat for fifth in the Eastern Conference with 35 points. But a win tonight would push them into a tie with Saskatoon and Moose Jaw for the second seed. Calgary meanwhile started the season with just one win in their first six games. Since then they have been about as good as any team in the WHL, currently eighth in the Eastern Conference with 30 points. A Hitmen win tonight would move them past Red Deer and into seventh.
Both teams enter tonight's contest with high octane scoring attacks of late. Calgary has turned on the red light 25 times in their last four games while Edmonton has scored 22 times in that same span.
STREAKIN: 10 Hitmen enter the the contest on point streaks. Danny Gayle (4g 7a) is on a career high eight game run. Jimmy Bubnick (6g7a) has points in seven straight while Brady Brassart (3g 6a) and Trevor Cheek (3g 6a) are riding six game streaks. Victor Rask (2g 4a) has points in his last four games while Spencer Humphries (2g 2a), Greg Chase (1g 2a), Calder Brooks (3a), Brooks Macek (2g) and Kenton Helgesen (1g 1a) all have points in back-to-back games.
Calgary is 9-5-1-0 on the road this season while Edmonton is 9-2-0-0 at home.

PROSPECT WATCH: Jake Virtanen, the number one overall pick by the Hitmen in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft, is playing AAA in the BC Major Midget League as a 15-year-old. He is currently tied for sixth in league scoring with 25 points (8g 17a) in 18 games.
