Edmonton, AB – T.J. Foster broke a 1-1 second period tie scoring on the powerplay lifting the Edmonton Oil Kings to a 2-1 win over the Calgary Hitmen Saturday night at Rexall Place.

The win was Edmonton’s 15th straight on home ice.

Alex Gogolev opened the scoring for Calgary counting his 13th of the season but Mitchell Moroz drew Edmonton even scoring with just 13.9 seconds left in the opening period.

Both goaltenders were excellent in net.  Brandon Glover made 31 saves for the Hitmen in a second star performance while Laurent Brossoit stopped 21 shots for Edmonton including a pair of breakaways to earn first star honours.

Calgary, 17-15-2-1 on the season, will now enjoy a 10 day Christmas Break before starting a five game BC road trip December 28th in Prince George against the Cougars.

The Hitmen head into the break holding the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 37 points.
