Medicine Hat at Calgary

The Calgary Hitmen (15-11-1-1) host the Medicine Hat Tigers (16-11-2-2) this afternoon in the 17th annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss.  Game time is 4:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.  Fans are asked to bring a stuffed toy (or two or three) to the game and toss it on the ice when the Hitmen score their first goal.  Over 50 local charities have requested 25,000 teddy bears to meet demand this holiday season.  The Rainbow Society will also be selling bears on the concourse for $10.

Calgary enters the game winners of five of their last six are are coming off Friday's 3-2 overtime win over the Spokane Chiefs.  For Medicine Hat, it's their third game in as many days falling 2-1 in overtime to Saskatoon Friday before dropping a 6-3 home ice decision to Spokane last night.  Overall the Tigers have lost three straight.

The Hitmen trail Medicine Hat by four points for sixth in the Eastern Conference, but have three games in hand on their Alberta rivals.

DID YOU KNOW? Tigers goalie Tyler Bunz, a fifth round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers, is one of four goalies invited to Hockey Canada's World Junior Selection Camp that will take place December 10-14 in Calgary.

ALUMNI WATCH:  Former Hitmen captain Karl Alzner is in the NHL with the Washington Capitals.  The 23-year-old defenceman has eight points (1g 7a) in 25 games this season.  He is also +9 with 16 shots on goal.
