Calgary at Edmonton

Calgary Hitmen (17-14-2-1) play their final game before the Christmas Break tonight on the road in Edmonton against the Oil Kings (22-8-1-2).  Radio Broadcast on Sportsnet 960 starts at 7:00 p.m.  It's also the Oil Kings teddy bear toss.  The Hitmen are coming off last night's 3-2 home ice loss to Regina, a game in which they out shot the Pats 34-16.  Edmonton last played Wednesday posting a 6-3 home ice win over the Victoria Royals.

Calgary sits in the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot with 37 points, four points ahead of ninth place Red Deer.  Edmonton meanwhile has won 10 straight, including 14 in a row on home ice to climb to the top of the Eastern Conference with 47 points, a point up on second place Moose Jaw.

A couple of line-up notes for both teams heading into the game.  Calgary will be without the services of forward Brady Brassart.  He's been suspended for a match penalty he received towards the end of last nights game against the Pats.  Victor Rask will also miss the game.  He's joined team Sweden in preparation for the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championship.  Edmonton will be without Buffalo Sabres first round pick Mark Pysyk.  The defenceman is with Team Canada's World Junior Entry.

Tonight is the third of six regular season meetings between the two clubs.  Edmonton has won both by a combined score of 12-3.  Tyler Maxwell (2g 2a) and Dylan Wruck (1g 3a) both have four points to lead the Oil Kings against Calgary while Flames pick Laurent Brossoit has stopped 46 of the 49 Hitmen shots.  Trevor Cheek (1g 1a), Cody Sylvester (1g 1a) and Greg Chase (2a) all have two points each to lead Calgary in the season series.
