Cranbrook, BC – The Kootenay Ice used a strong powerplay scoring three times with the man advantage in a 4-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen Saturday night at Western Financial Place.
Sam Reinhart, Jaeden Descheneau and Luke Philp all had a goal and an assist as the Ice avoided the sweep of the home and home series.
Jon Martin also scored for Kootenay who outshot Calgary 36-28.
Josh Thrower and Jake Virtanen had the Hitmen goals who trailed 1-0 after the first period and 3-1 after 40 minutes.
The win improves the Ice record to 3-2-1-0 while Calgary drops to 3-2
Calgary returns to action Tuesday night in Medicine Hat. Game time is 7pm with the radio broadcast on Sportsnet 960 The Fan.
Next Hitmen home game is Saturday, October 12th against Calgary product and Winnipeg Jets first round pick Josh Morrissey and the Prince Albert Raiders. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.
