Saskatoon played a hard working road game while Calgary appeared a little rusty after a week off as the Blades blanked the Hitmen 4-0 Friday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Matt Revel, a 16-year-old rookie and a former linemate of Hitmen forward Jake Virtanen, scored twice for Saskatoon while Josh Nicholls and Brendan Walker added singles.
Andrey Makarov made 25 saves, including a dazzling cross crease stop off Hitmen forward Zane Jones, to pick-up his second shutout of the season.
The Saskatoon penalty kill also played a major role as the Hitmen went 0-7 on the powerplay.
Friday also marked only the second time Calgary has been shutout this season. The first also happened at home by the same 4-0 score at the hands of the Kootenay Ice.
