Calgary 4 Kootenay 1

It was a huge day for charity with 21,453 teddy bears collected on Sunday in the 18th annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss.

The Calgary Hitmen beat the Kootenay Ice 4-1 with rookie forward Pavlo Padakin triggering the blizzard of bears scoring the games first goal just over 13 minutes into the first period.

Greg Chase scored a pair of powerplay goal for the Hitmen while the penalty killing brigade was near perfect with Kootenay going just 1-8 on the powerplay.

Alex Roach also scored for Calgary who got a pair of assists each from Brady Brassart and Brooks Macek.

Brock Montgomery scored the lone goal for the Ice who were outshot 29-19.

Calgary is now 18-6-1-2 on the season and will visit the Ice in Cranbrook on Tuesday.
