The Calgary Hitmen moved into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference with a 2-1 win in Red Deer Wednesday night.
It what was a battles of the goalies most the night, all the scoring came in the third period.
Joel Hamilton put the Rebels on the board first, scoring just 42 seconds into the final frame before Brooks Macek and Victor Rask scored 26 seconds apart roughly five minutes later to give the Hitmen a lead they would not relinquish.
Chris Driedger turned in a solid performance in the Calgary net making 35 saves as the Rebels outshot the Hitmen 36-31.
Calgary improves to a WHL best 12-1-0-1 on the road this season.
The Hitmen will play their final three games before the Christmas Break at home starting Saturday night against the Regina Pats. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.
