Calgary 4 Red Deer 2

Chris Driedger made 41 saves in a first star performance as the Calgary Hitmen beat the Red Deer Rebels 4-2 Sunday afternoon at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Chase Clayton scored twice for Calgary and now has 10 goals on the season including seven in his last nine games.

Jimmy Bubnick with his 21st and Victor Rask into an empty net for his 20th also scored for Calgary who beat the Rebels for the second time in less than a week.

Matthew Dumba and Tyson Ness scored for Red Deer who trailed 1-0 after one and 2-0 after forty minutes.

Trevor Cheek led all Hitmen with seven shots on goal while John Persson topped the Rebels with nine.

Calgary has now won two in a row and 10 of their last 11 games to improve to 27-17-2-1.  At 57 points they remain seventh in the WHL's Eastern Conference, pulling one point back of Regina for sixth.

The Hitmen return to action Wednesday to host Team Canada World Junior Mark Stone and the Brandon Wheat Kings.  Game time is 7:00 p.m.
