Calgary 5 Medicine Hat 3

Calgary, AB - Brock Sutherland scored one goal and set up another as the Calgary Hitmen ran their winning streak to four games with a 5-3 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers Wednesday evening at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Danny Gayle, Collin Bowman, Alex Gogolev and Jimmy Bubnick also scored for Calgary while Cody Sylvester, Brady Brassart and Victor Rask all had two assists each. 

Brassart finished with a team best +3 rating.

Chris Driedger made 24 saves to record his 19th win of the season and third win in as many starts.

The Hitmen, now 36-22-2-1, move into fourth place in the WHL's Eastern Conference with 75 points, one point ahead of Kootenay and just two back of third place Medicine Hat.

Calgary welcomes the Eastern Conference leading Edmonton Oil Kings Friday, February 24. 

Game time is 7:00 p.m. for the Lunar Celebration and Calgary Catholic School District game featuring dragon dancers, post-game fireworks and fortune cookies containing great prizes, including a chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas.

1st Period Notes:
-Tiger scratches included 34 win goalie Tyler Bunz and 40 goal sniper Hunter Shinkaruk, both out with upper body day-to-day injuries.
-The first whistle of the first period didn't come until the 7:33 mark.
-Calgary hit three goal posts, two from Rask and one from Bubnick while Cole Grbavac struck iron for Medicine Hat.

2nd Period Notes:
-Calgary AAA Midget Northstars forward Chad LaBelle scored his 2nd career WHL goal in his hometown for the visiting Tigers.
-After Calgary failed to score on back to back powerplay chances that overlapped for a 5-on-3 for 16 seconds, they struck for two goals 65 seconds apart at even strength from Alex Gogolev and Brock Sutherland to turn a 2-1 lead into 4-1.

3rd Period Notes:
-Tigers grab the first 10 shots of the period with Calgary not getting their first shot till just past the 15 minute mark.
