Swift Current takes Game 3 in OT

Colby Cave scored at 10:14 of overtime to lift the Swift Current Broncos to a 3-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen Monday night at Credit Union iPlex.

The victory was the Broncos first in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Quarter Final with Calgary now leading 2-1.

Cody Sylvester forced overtime for the Hitmen scoring the tying goal with 33.2 seconds remaining in the third period capitalising on a powerplay.  It was his second goal of the game and third of the series for the Hitmen captain.

"I thought our guys showed a lot of resolve in the third period finding a way to get it to overtime but in OT I thought we were guilty of mismanaging the puck," said Hitmen Head Coach Mike Williamson.

Cave finished the game with a pair of goals for Swift Current while Adam Lowry had the other Broncos marker.

Both goaltenders turned in a strong performan as Calgary outshot the Broncos 45-42.

Eetu Laurikainen made 43 saves in the Swift Current net while Chris Driedger had 39 stops in the Calgary goal.

Game 4 goes Tuesday night in Swift Current.
