Rask returns to the Hitmen from the AHL

A huge boost to the Calgary Hitmen this week.  The American Hockey League's Charlotte Checkers sent 19-year-old Victor Rask back to the Hitmen.  Rask scored 33 goals for the Hitmen last season in his rookie campaign and will return to Calgary as the number one centre.

In 10 games with the Checkers this season, the Carolina Hurricanes second round pick had 5 points (1g 4a) and was a plus seven.

“We’re just trying to do what we think is best for Victor,” said Checkers Head Coach Jeff Daniels on gocheckers.com. “We want him to be able to get as much ice time as possible in all situations that he might not have gotten here. He needs to be playing at the end of games, taking key faceoffs and being in more of a leadership role.”

Rask was Calgary's first round pick, 3rd overall, in the CHL Import Draft.  He'll be in the line-up Sunday when the Hitmen host the Swift Current Broncos.  Game time is 2pm at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Hitmen General Manager Kelly Kisio joined the guys on Sportsnet 960 The Fan this morning to talk about the return of Rask and offer his general thoughts on the Hitmen season thus far.
