Hitmen 2 Blades 1

Chris Driedger made 43 saves, several of the outstanding variety, backstopping the Calgary Hitmen to a 2-1 win over the Saskatoon Blades Saturday night at Credit Union Centre.

The win moves Calgary into a tie with Edmonton for first place in the Western Hockey League Eastern Conference at 97 points.  The Oil Kings have four games left in the regular season, the Hitmen three.

Alex Roach and Colby Harmsworth both tallied goals for the Hitmen who played their fourth game in five nights.

Jordan Thomson scored the lone goal for Saskatoon who trailed 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 after 40 minutes.

The Blades outshot the Hitmen 44-32 and won the special teams battle going 1-5 on the powerplay while killing all six Calgary chances.

Greg Chase reached a personal milestone in the win for the Hitmen recording his 100th career regular season assist.
