Brady Gaudet scored in the seventh round of the shootout lifting the Red Deer Rebels to a 4-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen Saturday night at Enmax Centrium in Red Deer.
Zane Jones, Cody Sylvester and Jake Virtanen all scored for Calgary who overcame a 1-0 first period deficit but also had third period leads of 2-1 and 3-2 slip away.
Calgary Flames prospect Turner Elson scored twice for Red Deer. His second goal with 5:45 left in the third period forced overtime.
The Hitmen now share first place in the Central Division with Edmonton. Both teams have identical 8-3-1-2 records.

Calgary returns to action tomorrow at Scotiabank Saddledome to the host Kelowna Rockets, with a 4 p.m. puck drop. It’s the Hitmen Fight Cancer game presented by Delta West Academy, the ice will be painted pink and players will be wearing pink jerseys in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Prairies/NWT Region (CBCF) as well as the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta (Kids Cancer Centre).
