Ice 5 Hitmen 2

The Calgary Hitmen jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead, but could not hold on falling 5-2 to the Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook.

Chris Driedger opened the score for Calgary getting credit for an Ice own goal when an offensive zone Kootenay pass to the blue line missed the defence and went all the way down into an empty net on a delayed penalty call.  Driedger becomes just the sixth goalie in WHL history, the first in 10 years, to score a goal.

Brady Brassart also scored for Calgary before the Ice roared back scoring two in the second and three more times in the third period including a pair of goals into an empty net.

Kootenay is now a perfect 3-0 on home ice against the Hitmen this season.
