Hitmen score shootout win in PG

Pavel Padakin scored the shootout winner as the Calgary Hitmen beat the Prince George Cougars 4-3 Saturday night at CN Centre.

Mack Shields made a career high 45 saves through overtime then stopped all three Cougar shots in the shootout to pick up his sixth win of the season in goal.

Greg Chase had a first period hat trick, his first three goal game in the Western Hockey League as the Hitmen built a 3-1 first period lead.

Brady Brassart chipped in a pair of assists for Calgary who picked up six of a possible eight points on their BC Division road trip.

Prince George outshot Calgary 48-36 getting goals from Zack Pochiro, David Soltes and Chase Witala.

The Hitmen have now earned a point in 10 straight games going 7-0-1-2 in that span.

Overall Calgary leads the Western Hockey League Eastern Conference with 22 points holding a record of 10-3-1-2. 

The Hitmen now return home and will enjoy a full seven day break before hosting the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday, November 3rd at Scotiabank Saddledome.  Game time is 4:00 p.m.
