Hitmen open the pre-season with a win

The 2012 WHL pre-season schedule began for Calgary Hitmen Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Chris Driedger, an off season draft pick of the Ottawa Senators, made 34 saves including 20 in the third period.

Carson Samoridny had a pairr of goals to lead the scoring attack.  Both came in the third period snapping a 1-1 tie.  Samoridny is hoping to crack the Hitmen line-up as an 18-year-old after playing 33 games last season for the Everett Silvertips.

Travis Sanheim also scored for Calgary while Greg Chase chipped in a pair of assists.
