Hitmen improve to 2-0 in pre-season

The Calgary Hitmen picked up their second win in as many days Sunday afternoon posting a 5-1 victory over the Swift Current Broncos in St. Albert, Alberta.

The win caps Calgary's weekend at the sixth annual Edmonton Oil Kings Pre-Season Invitational.

Mack Shields, a 16 year-old rookie goalie from Saskatoon, made 23 saves in his first career WHL pre-season start.

Ryley Bennefield led the Hitmen scoring attack with a pair of goals.  Bennefield played three games for the Portland Winterhawks last season.

Jaynen Rissling, Austin Calladine and Brooks Macek also scored for Calgary while Brady Brassart chipped in three assists.

Carson Samoridny, who had a pair of goals in Saturday's victory over Medicine Hat picked up an assist for his third point of the pre-season.

The Hitmen will now return to the practice ice in Calgary before their next pre-season game Wednesday night in Taber against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.  Game time is 7:00 p.m.
