The Calgary Hitmen have now lost three of their last four games after a 3-2 setback in Cranbrook on Monday night.
In a game where Calgary never had the lead, Levi Cable broke a 2-2 third period tie with 8:40 remaining lifting the Ice to victory.
Calgary started strong building an early 8-1 lead on the shot clock but then fell into penalty problems which seemed to take away any momentum they had built. It was Brock Montgomery who scored the lone goal of the first period giving Kootenay a 1-0 lead.
In the second, the Hitmen scored the lone goal of the period as Zane Jones converted for his 11th of the season.
Montgomery struck again for the Ice, his sixth against the Hitmen in five games, to reestablish the lead for Kootenay in the third period but just 44 seconds later Cody Sylvester's 21st of the season pulled Calgary even. It didn't stay that was for long as Cable then potted the game winner just over two minutes later.
