Nine Hitmen heading to NHL Camps

The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club today announced nine Hitmen players will head to National Hockey League Training Camps.

Of the nine set to depart this week, eight are drafted prospects while Pavel Padakin has received a free agent invite to the Calgary Flames 2014 prospects’ training camp.

"It’s a great achievement for our organization to have nine players from our current roster invited to attend an NHL training camp," said Hitmen General Manager and Vice President of Business Operations Mike Moore. "The experience they will gain performing against players on an elite stage will be extremely valuable and rewarding.”

The Hitmen, 2-2 in the Western Hockey League pre-season, will wrap up their exhibition schedule with a pair of games this weekend in the Crowsnest Pass.  On Saturday they face the Lethbridge Hurricanes before meeting the Kootenay Ice on Sunday.  Both games will be played at the Crowsnest Sports Complex in Coleman.  Saturday is a 7:00 pm start while Sunday is a matinee with a 2:00 pm puck drop.

The 72-game 2014-15 WHL regular season schedule begins on Saturday, September 20 with the Home Opener against the Red Deer Rebels.  Game time is 7:00 pm at Scotiabank Saddledome.
