Calgary 5 Everett 1

Rookie Jake Virtanen scored twice, including once into an empty net to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 5-1 win over the Everett Silvertips Friday night at Comcast Arena.

Pavlo Padakin, Calder Brooks and Spencer Humphries also scored for Calgary while Victor Rask chipped in a pair of assists for the Hitmen who have now won back-to-back games to improve to 3-3 on their season high nine game road trip.

Mack Shields made 28 saves to pick up the win as Calgary outshot Everett 38-29.

Landon Oslanski had the lone goal for the Silvertips who owned a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes before the Hitmen scored five unanswered goals.

The Hitmen, third in the 12 team Eastern Conference at 35-16-1-3, return to action Saturday night in Kent against the Seattle Thunderbirds.  Internet Broadcast on www.sportsnet.ca/960 starts at 8:00 p.m. MDT.
