The Ducks have signed defenseman Kenton Helgesen to a three-year entry-level contract. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Helgesen, 20 (3/19/94), scored 13-72=85 points with a +60 rating and 246 penalty minutes (PIM) in 199 career games with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The 6-2, 186-pound defensemen has also appeared in 14 career WHL Playoff games, earning 1-2=3 points with six PIM.

Selected by Anaheim in the seventh round (187th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Helgesen collected 10-41=51 points with a +31 rating and 67 PIM in 71 games with the Hitmen this season. He set WHL career highs in all offensive categories in 2013-14, including goals, assists, points, power-play goals (4) and plus/minus.
Among team leaders, Helgesen ranked second in plus/minus and third in assists, while leading Calgary defensemen in scoring and assists, and co-leading in goals.
The Grand Prairie, Alberta native also appeared in six WHL Playoff games this spring, earning 1-1=2 points with four PIM.
