Hitmen acquire Michael Zipp from Everett

The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club announced today that they have acquired 17-year-old defenceman Micheal Zipp from the Everett Silvertips in exchange for 19-year-old forward Zane Jones.

“Micheal is a young player who continues to develop and we are excited to add his size and potential to our team,” commented Hitmen General Manager and Vice President, Business Operations Mike Moore on the 6-2, 185-pound defenceman.  “With the additions of Mike Winther and Adam Tambellini to our offensive core, it was necessary to move a forward and acquire a defenceman.  The Hitmen organization would like to thank Zane for his time and we wish him continued success in Everett.”

A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Zipp is currently playing in his second WHL season.  The 1996-born defenceman has recorded two assists along with 59 penalty minutes over 59 games played with Everett.  The Silvertips selected Zipp in the fourth round, 73rd overall, in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.
