Medicine Hat 10 Calgary 1

It was one of those nights where everything that could go wrong did for the Calgary Hitmen who got thumped 10-1 at home Friday night by the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers.

Hunter Shinkaruk and Curtis Valk both had five points a piece for the Tigers who built period leads of 2-0 and 7-0.

Cody Sylvester, with his 12th goal in 12 games scored the lone Hitmen marker.

Calgary started well building a 9-2 lead on the shot clock in the opening 10 minutes, but from that point on Medicine Hat completely took over.

Friday was also the first time the Hitmen surrendered 10 goals on home since October 14th, 2001 when they were beaten 10-4 by Prince George.  Brady Block was left in goal for all 10 against while Ken Davis scored five times for the Cougars who were actually outshot 40-30.

The Hitmen (8-3-1-1) are back on the ice tonight in Red Deer against the Rebels (7-8-1-1).  The Mr. Fireplace Hitmen warm-up on Sportsnet 960 The Fan starts at 7pm with play-by-play at 7:30.
